Silk and cotton bed- or couch cover in Kambira embroidery with appliqué patterns in the centre. In perfect condition. Kambira embroidery is practiced by Harijan communities living the Great Desert of Kachchh, Northern Gujarat, India. The typical 'stepped' (like a staircase) stitch style of Kambira embroidery is inspired by Muslim architecture. The hand-embroidery made with regular symmetrical patterns gives the piece a 3-D appearance as you can see in the second image. This piece also has appliqué patterns at the centre.
